International Rug Hooking Day in Williamstown

The invitation to Beaconsfield’s and Martintown’s event, Wed, December 4, is attached. Be sure to register if you’re interested. At the Nov meetings, we’ll ask who’s attending and perhaps you can arrange to carpool with those in your area. Last year we had quite a good showing from Olde Forge – I hope many of us can attend again.

St Henri retreat in February

The dates have been set (Feb 15-16) and invite received for the retreat at Ermitage Sainte-Croix, Pierrefonds, on the shore of Lac des Deux-Montagnes. To check out the venue: You can find the invitation and the registration form under ‘other events’ on the right side of the home page, or as a dropdown under workshops on the menu above. It’s kind of nice to get together in winter for some hooking, camaraderie and fun.

Olde Forge Info

Final Call for membership renewal

Fees for Olde Forge are overdue; $20 for the year (Sept 1 – Aug 31). If you haven’t renewed by Nov 2, you will no longer have access to our FaceBook page and the members’ only section of the website as of Nov 4 (see the note below about access changing to the members’ only section). You’ll also not be able to shop at the garage sale. If your dues are outstanding, payment can be made at the meeting, prior to the start of the garage sale, or via e-transfer to in advance of the meeting.

Access to Members’ Only on the website is changing

Effective Monday, Nov 4, access to the private area of the website is changing. The password will be changing (this will occur annually) and the login will require a user name as well. Details are in the documents section of Members Only. Although the info suggests I’ll be sharing the password at Saturday’s meeting, I’ll actually email all paid-up members on Monday. A big thank you to Norma, who continues to evolve the website, making it richer in content and also improving the security.

OHCG 2020 membership

OHCG now has the option of joining and renewing OHCG memberships online. Yay! We’ll no longer be collecting payments for OHCG. This new process will make it easier for Claire and also for the OHCG membership coordinator, as there will be no spreadsheets to reference and reconcile. We had previously indicated we would accept OHCG membership fees until March 1; however, this was prior to learning about their new online capability.

For each workshop, a list of participants, including confirmation of payment, will be posted in the Members Only section. I encourage everyone interested in a specific event to ensure they’re on the list.

Also, the updated policy regarding workshops will be posted in the Members Only section. It includes the requirements for deposits and full payment as mentioned previously.

Briggs &Little Order

As mentioned at the last meeting, we had the required volume to place an order. It should be arriving in time for last meeting in Nov if not sooner. I’ll check in again in January about another order; however, we may not have enough interest and may need to wait until May/June.

Nov Meeting Agenda

  1. Events and Excursions

It was suggested that a trip to Dorr Mills in New Hampshire might be of interest to a number of members and people have been talking about travelling to Williamstown for International Rug Hooking Day in Dec. We can use meetings to find out who is interested; however, it will be left to individuals to get together and make arrangements, whether for carpooling or for any excursions. At this month’s meetings, I’ll be asking about these two activities so that those interested can connect and decide how they want to move forward.

1-1:15 pm (11:45 am-noon) Questions, information from the group

1:15-1:45 pm (12:30-1:00 pm) Show and Tell
