A thank you from ME Critchlow

Connie Lorch (past, past president of OHCG) wanted me to be sure to pass along ME Critchlow’s thanks to Jane Thacker for the subject index of RHM articles and the listing of RHM dye articles. They’re not as fortunate as we are to have a library; however, 4 members have the complete set of RHM issues. They’ve arranged for members to let them know which issue/article is of interest; then, one of the members with the magazines will bring it to the next meeting. Many people, including Connie and others in her group, have mentioned how surprised they are that we’re willing to share Jane’s hard and very good work.

The Finishing Club:  October’s topic

I’m delighted to advise that Robin Whitford will be demonstrating how she finishes her work using canvases. The 20-30 minute sessions will be held during regular October meetings:  Sat Oct 19 (pending confirmation from the City) and Thurs Oct 24. If you can attend the Thurs meeting it would be great to leave the Oct 19 session to those who are only able to attend Sat meetings. I’ll circulate a sign-up sheet and if you’re unable to make meetings prior to the sessions, please let me know of your interest.

Going forward in Nov, we’ll update the list of topics and continue with the club.

Website updates and a tip

Great news! When Norma returns, she’ll guide us through the new website – giving us tips and pointing us in the right directions to make best use of the site. In the meantime, a few things that have happened:

  • a public version of the news is now being posted on the home page for others who are interested in knowing more about what we’re up to. The complete news still appears in the members’ only section
  • there’s a new tab for workshops; again, open to the public. This may be helpful if we need to fill a class, and registration will only open up after registration deadlines for Olde Forgers
  • the calendar has been removed. Instead, events are listed on the workshops page as one of three options, and a link to events also appears on our home page
